How many of you frequently adjust your seats? I’m the only one that drives my cars (manual transmissions, so I rarely let anyone else touch them) , so moving the seats isn’t a priority for me. As such, I really don’t care if my car has power seats. For me they’re added weight and complexity, and more stuff to break.

Can you live without them? Or are they a necessity in your cars ?

ha - I’ll be you and me are the only two people on the planet that feel that way. Put the extra 2.5 lbs you save into bigger front brake rotors.

I vastly prefer manual seats. I can get comfortable much faster. With the power option I go back and forth trying to find the sweet spot and its never there. Also manual adjusters rarely ever break.

I’m a special case. I use mine every day. I have two memory settings, one for wheelchair loading and one for driving. I also really appreciate that underpowered motors that were never intended to do as much as I make them hold up well.

The ones in my wife’s van get a workout too. Both she and I drive, and both of us and my daughter ride shotgun. So they are used every day.

I agree, they weigh   more and I could care less, except being able to adjust while driving is nice

Unnecessary weight up to a certain model year or level of development. After that you’re either in an el cheapo micro compact without power windows or stuck with 1000 miles of wiring and oversight how much you favor weight on one cheek over the other.

I've lived without them for the last thirty odd years of driving...

I have power seats with memory presets on our family hauler.

awesome since my wife uses it when I work. And the preset also does the side mirrors. If I start it with my fob it will automatically go to my settings.

My forester that I use to get to work has heated seats and power mirrors but that’s ok since I drive it 95 % of the time. Just wish it had the heated steering wheel like my pathfinder does.

I can live without them, but I don't really care much either way.  My truck goes months between anyone other than me driving it, which means the seats and mirrors are probably adjusted not more than a handful of times a year.

Honestly power seats suck. All they do is make it take longer to adjust the seat.

I rarely move my seat. I don’t care much for power seats. Why have a button to do something that doesn’t take much effort, and can be done manually faster? For someone with limited mobility, though, I’m sure it’s nice.

I'll probably change my tune in 20 or 30 years.

We doing this tonight? Everyone take a seat on the band wagon?!

I don’t. Ever. Unless I’m at work I don’t need to touch them. At work I have several other people driving my truck, and then sometime when others break down, my car becomes the village bicycle.

I’m pretty specific on how I like my seat adjusted. So is my wife and they are almost  polar opposites. If I haven’t had dual memory seats in my vehicles the last 15 years or so, I’d probably be divorced so, yeah, can’t live without em.

I’m 6'4" and my wife is 5'6". She has power seats in her Explorer, and I hate having to wait for the seat to go back far enough for me to get into it. When she drive’s my Focus, which is a rare occasion, she usually forgets to pull the seat back, then I cram my knees into the steering wheel before I can adjust the seat right where I need it to be. That, and she leans the seat way back for some reason. I have long arms, but I can’t reach the steering wheel unless I adjust the seat more upright where it belongs.

I hate having to wait for the seat to slowly power forward to let people in/out of the back, I’ve used older manual seats that would flip forward and out of the way a lot faster.

Personally, I’d like to go back to the old a la carte ordering system, so you could order the biggest engine unbundled from any other extraneous junk. A/C, radio, power seats, power windows, keyless entry, bucket seats, sunroof, etc. It’s probably good I’m not in charge of an automaker, because there probably aren’t many other people who would buy a new 1970 Dodge Dart in 2020.

On my vehicle, never ever.  On a vehicle I share, every single time I get in.

I do make minor adjustments about once a week. I also have a memory setting for leisure sitting, like if I’ m on break at work. Seat back, steering wheel up. Motor controls also allows for very minute changes, which can be difficult with grab handles.

I’m not sharing my car with anyone, so they don’t have much benefit to me. If I were I would be very happy to have the memory seats since it usually takes a good amount of adjustment for me to be happy, so nice to be able to just push a button and get it where I want it. I hate, hate, hate that in my Volvo the passenger seat won’t adjust unless I power the car.

Recently, I have been spoiled. The last few rentals have had the “e asy entry” feature where the seat pulls back and the tilt wheel raises to make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. I love it! I usually set the tilt low enough that I hit my leg on the steering wheel when I get in. Having the wheel move up and out of the way is fantastic.

The power seats also make it easy to tweak my position on long drives. Since I make 4-5 hour drives twice a week, I usually tweak it a couple of times during the trip and again on Monday morning.

I have never found a comfortable position in a car like, ever, so I fiddle with them constantly. Every drive, at least once

I have a post coming up. Reclining  the  seat way back is a good way to snap your neck

I actually prefer not to have power seats.

With manual seats my wife and I’s driving positions are always the same. I set my ideal position, then Her’s is 2 clicks forward, tip back one click. I get in I slide it back 2 clicks, and tip it up one click. Perfect.

This is the same for every single one of our vehicles.

With power seats it’s continuous fuckery to try to get them right in the beginning, then if they don’t have memory, it’s fuckery every time someone else drives. Simply annoying.

Manual seats are far less complicated and are quicker. I don’t mind electric seats, but if a car has them having memory seats is also a must.
